Although Phillies are sold in many styles today, they were originally sold only as blunts. Blunt was a term coined by Bayuk and used on the Phillies packaging. It was meant to indicate the shape of the cigar, which was short and fat compared to the more-expensive selection of cigars that were popular in the area at that time. The Phillies Blunt eventually became popular throughout the U.S. as a cheap but good cigar that is the perfect size and could be purchased as individual cigars, which was unusual for inexpensive cigars.

The standard Phillies cigarillo is called Phillies Cigarillo Regular. The brand is machine-made in Alabama using a blend of Honduran and Dominican tobaccos. Each pack includes five cigarillos and can be purchased in cartons of five and 30. The wrapper leaf is very similar to the leaf used on the Phillies Blunt, and this provides the cigarillo with an interesting texture and taste that is considerably different from the average cigarillo on the market.
